Hey Mookey, To answer your question..... You don't really want to consider when koi spawn by a certain month. The date of spawning is only a basic guideline. To get them to spawn under a controlled condition you need to trick them. The first thing to consider is which koi you want to spawn. If you are just doing a flock spawning then you will need to remove the female to another pond or atleast divide your pond and keep her separate for a few weeks prior to spawning. The introduction of new koi is one of the triggering mechanisms. Secondly, you need to do something to change the chemistry of the water. Usually a drop in temps will do it. Speaking of temps, they should be above 68F for atleast a few weeks. Then with the female separated from the males do a large water change on the breeding pond. I usually do about 60%. After the water change is complete introduce the males to her. Even though koi will lay eggs on about everything, keep plenty of vegetation around. I like plastics. They are reusable every year. If all goes right, they will spawn a few days afterwards. I have had them spawn the night after introducing them. hope this helps Utsuri
