Hello William A year is an awful long time for a koi to carry eggs. Having said that, If it is possible then she has chosen not to begin ovulation yet. When this process starts the female wil begin to produce a pheramone that will draw the interest of the males. If she is not producing this, the males will show her no attention. Some females require certain stimulus to begin the ovulation process such as proper water conditions or spawning media such as imitation grass or plants. Overcrowding in the pond might keep her from proceeding as well. Normally, if she is carrying eggs but not laying, mother nature is telling her that it is not the right time or place for it. There is always the ouside chance that there is an obstruction keeping her from passing her eggs but this is unlikely. By this length of time, she would have already reabsorbed them back into her system. Hope this helps, Kiefer KIEFER
