Koi bumping another koi Can't Post

Hi guys,

I recently added a new koi to my pond, and what I have noticed is that one of my original koi seems to be infatuated with it. It keeps following it and swimming up close next to it, basically pushing it. It also bumps it around alot bit. It seems more annoying than threatening, although, i'm not an expert on koi so i'm not clear on whats actually occuring. At first I just thought maybe it just wants to breed, but i was a bit concerned maybe this isnt the case and maybe he's attacking the new koi. I was really happy to have finally gotten my big koi (orignally we had 20 small koi and one big koi) some company, but now im worried. I actually dont know the sex of the koi so i cant be sure they are breeding or fighting. Can anybody clear this up for me?

Hi Jin,

Look on the bright side, your new koi could very well be a female.

The bumping activities sounds like classic humping activities too me. How big is the new introduction?

Cheers..
