Master Cifu koi38....

So healthy eggs should be yellowish in color like this?

and it take about a week to hatch right?
What about air? do I aerate the water even when the eggs are not yet hatched?

Thank you very much!!!!!!!

With regards, Jarvis

Hi Jarvis,

Actually the bad eggs are opaque and the good one are almost transparent in color. Koi eggs should hatch around 4 to 6 days depends on the temp of the pond where the eggs were laid. Sometimes it take more than 10 days but if that happens the deformity rate will be high. So might have to throw them and start a different pair. Pair older kloi like four yrs old or above. Older koi will give you healthy, larger eggs and deformity will be lowWink Yes, you can add air stones and keep an eye on the ammonia and ph once their started hatching.Smile

Master Cifu Koi38...

Thank you very much.....my eggs are still like yellowish as the above pic...Crazy

It was monday morning and it's friday afternon now.....not long enough yet...Tongue

I don't quite get you about the eggs being transparent.....do you mean that the egg is transparent but still has color?

My camera is not good enough to take a good pic for you....but they sort of look like the attached pic...

BTW: My koi are very young.......I bought them a bit over 9 months ago when they were 5 inchers....they should be still tosai?

With regards, Jarvis

Jarvis

Transparent with some sort of coloration inside indicates eggs developing. But in your case it's hard to guarantee coz the age of the pairCrazy But hey we never never know if we never never trySlyTongueWink Just sit back and watch them growSmile

Re: [Koi38] Koi eggs [In reply to] Can't Post

if you have a look at your ealier pic

you can see some fungus two of the eggs at the front right of the pump

these have to be removed because they make the others go bad

the rest appear to be transparent thoughWink

also just a tip someone told me -you shouldnt lift the egg completely out of the water

coz it can cause deformities etc

Thanks for the quick reply....My koi are really way too young to ensure a successful spawn....in 2-3 years it will be their sexiest times.Tongue
