Life span of Koi in Asean climate Can't Post
What is the life span of koi in our tropical climate?
I have been keeping koi for more than a decade and in my encounter most full grown koi can survive for about 12-14 years.

Could any of the peers share your experience.

Hi there

In Japan, kois are known to have outlived humans and gone on to achieve a super age of 200! It is not uncommon for kois to live up to 20-30 years.

You posed an interesting question: I wonder who within the Asean region has kois older than 20 yrs!

I would be happy if they are with me for more than 20 yrs!

Hi there,

Johnson you are right...some kois can go up too 200 years old but very rare unless the water condition is superb :) So far my oldest koi is about 10 years old.

Hi all,
I have been taking this myth about kois living to
200 years with a large pinch of salt which was even
shared by my Japanese friend. Cannot imagine them
outliving us?

Full grown 10 - 12 years old kois tend to deteriorate
and loose its colour and sheen as it gets older.
