I have got my goldfish to spawn, here are a few pointers: * Fry are sensitive to temperature and water parameter changes in their first several weeks of life. Therefore you should ensure that the PH and temperature of the ponds you are moving them to are close to their original home as possible. * I prefer to move them when they are in the egg phase of life, but if you want to move them after they have hatched do so with a container, moving in to container the fry in with the water. I never use a net because the fry are delicate. * Having large quantities of fry will lead to a rise in ammonia and nitrite. You're best bet is to have several large sponge filters made or bought for use inside the fry tank(s). A gentle returning water flow is best to prevent too much damage to the fry. Microscopic animals (which they can see, and I have witness my fry eat) often live within these sponges and are a great treat for the fry. * Make sure the sponge filters were already operating in another pond for several weeks before the addition of it into the fry tank. This will make sure you have a cycled filter ready for use ASAP. * Depending on temperature you'll need to ensure there is enough oxygen in the water, so use an airstone that gently aerates the water. * Have water plants in the fry tank, which could preferably be already covered in bits of algae from an existing tank or pond. This way the fry can feed on microscopic foods available here. * If you are putting the fry to grow out, make sure they are large enough (say 3-4cms) before they go outside to a pond just in case there are other predators lurking in the pond that will want to eat them.
