Here are the babies from yesterday...Spawning took place day before Fathers day. We were on vacation and my dad came over to feed. He said the pond was trashed - called me - asked him to put in spawining ropes and he salvaged what he could of the parrots feather...He put in willow-left that in overnight- we came home early from our trip, but they seemed to be finished. The next morning I cleaned out the pump and found eggs...so went to work, spent 3 hours netting eggs out, took the willow out and there were quite a few eggs on it, so not sure if they spawned again that night or what. My dad and I were not very hopeful, would have been surprised to have 100...but they started hatching - there are a few hundred that hatched from the ropes, which he put in at 4:00 in the afternoon - and there are a few hundred from the willow - which was put in around 7:00 at night....very surprised at how many babies we have - and especially from the willow..... Most frys are free floating at this point - Trying the hard boiled egg this year, also bought hikari first feed, they seem to be going after that stuff...Daphnia and algae we have been adding to the tanks every couple of hours, heaters - air stones and sponge filter all going - 100 gallon stock tank - and 50 gallon preform - The heaters really seem to be my savior this year. I lost all the ones I had outside last year - the ones in the green house were fine. I suspected it was from a cold front that had come in one night, even though it was July it still can get pretty cold at night. That was why I had put heaters in the tank - so glad I did that - the babies are always hanging around those heaters, and they really seem to be keeping the water more consistent. Any suggestions would be great, like I said this is the third year, but I still feel like an extreme beginner........
