Splashing sounds in pond Can't Post

Hi everyone,
Tonight, in darkness and with only a flashlight, I could hear splashing in my pond. The koi were not flashing or sick before, but I have read that koi jumping are signs of parasites. Water parameters are great. Is this spawning behavior or is still a sign of sick koi? I hope I could offer more information or pictures but it is pitch dark...

Any thoughts?

I only hear night splashing when there is spawning activity. You will know for sure in the morning. In Hawaii, there is often a second spawning season during September - maybe in CA too. There was a storm headed you way but I haven't kept track. Did you have a weather change or low barometric pressure?

Yes, it suddenly got colder this weekend. We had high 80-90's last week and this weekend it was high 60's to low 70's.

Sounds like your koi are making love. At the show this past weekend the koi thought it was time to spawn and they had to keep removing fish to other tanks to keep them from making love, it was quiet funnySly I have also noticed my koi wanted to mass spawn.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses. They were no signs of eggs anywhere in the pond, so maybe they weren't spawning? Or is it possible for them to eat all the eggs?

maybe they were playing, or jumping in the moonlight jumping is not always a sign of illness

Once you start koi you just can't stop.
