Who do you think the parents are?? Can't Post
The other day I posted about these fryes in my pond. We have 3 Koi, (nothing special, not for breeding, just enjoyment), one sarassa comet, and the other 4 are fantail goldfish. We now have 9 1 1/2 inch fryes coexisting with them. For the life of me I can't figure out if they are koi or mix breed. Their tails look koi but will their fins change or just grow larger? Can anyone venture a guess? Some have some minor coloring but for the most part are a muddy brown. I don't care if they are mixed I am just very curious now. We have been having so much fun hand feeding the Koi and the goldfish even feed out of her fingers.

I have attached a picture of the kois and comet (sorry about the sun glare) and the other is 3 of the 9 fryes.

What does anyone think?

Could be a Newbloodline. Same as Bulldog, crossed by a bull and a dog, you will get a Newbloodline of bulldog.

I have read so many posts . Some say wait until 6 inches long before looking for barbels. Others say not true. Another post said that comets would breed with koi but not goldfish. Is this true? Their tails do look like a comets more now. Will the fins change or will they just get larger with age? Thanks for your time. THere is really only one cute one right now with pretty colors but I can't bring myself to get rid of the others.

Hi backyard Im breeding and I know for sure that they have barbels when very small, If you put them in a drinking glass as use a maginifying glass you will see if they are koi or not. And if you like the fish keep em, thats all that matters anywaysWink
