Why are my female kois not swollen with eggs? Can't Post

It's mid April in Southern California, shouldn't my female kois be swollen with eggs now?

Hello theosan

Not all female koi produce eggs every year. Many times a females koi will not produce eggs if she feels that her environment is not condusive for egg laying. There could be other reasons. Also, some koi, especially larger koi will often not show much extra girth even when carrying eggs.

Good Luck, Kiefer

Are you sure your Koi are female and of the right age?

Also do environment affect the pregnancy? You know how vegetations promote spawn, does the same go fo pregnancy?Angelic
