If you have plants or other good places for the eggs to be laid it is fine to let her go "natural". Some people like to place burlap bags or spawning ropes in the pond for eggs to be laid on as it makes them easy to move once fertilized. Once they have spawned you have two choices. Leave them alone and let them hatch right where they are (adult koi aren't cannibalistic, baby koi are), or remove the eggs to a hatchery pool. They will need algae to eat no matter where you hatch them, so if you move them to a seperate pool you WANT moderately green water. If that is your plan, use pond water to fill the pool, aerate well, and don't use any algaecide. If your water doesn't green up you can buy "algae eater" food pellets and grind them up for the babies. They also eat brine shrimp so you'll need to get a supply of that once they hatch. They will hatch within 3-4 days after being fertilized so get ready!
