hi everybody

this morning i saw a clear slimy strand floating in the pond. is this the koi's egg. if so how can i take care of it?. for now i put it in the filter chamber coz im afraid the koi will eat it.

Whatever it is, it is NOT koi eggs. I suspect it's koi feces because they come in many forms including the clear/white stringy kind. It just depends on what they've eaten and if they're having any kind of digestive problems.

If you know what Salmon Egss look like, Koi Eggs are similar although at bit smaller and CLEAR looking unlike the pink egg of the salmon. Sometimes they're white and these are the dead and unfertilized eggs. If you look at a koi egg carefully, it looks very clear like a clear gelatin cover, very round and inside, you can see a black dot. This black dot(s) are the eyes of the fry.

A female Koi can lay up to 250,000 eggs at one time, so there's no mistaking Koi eggs when you see them, because they will be all over your pond. They stick to everything and will not be floating as you mentioned.

I am quite sure those are frog or toads, eggs. You will see tadpoles within the day. I have this problem all the time.
