Sorry, I'm afraid they won't improve based on my limited experience. If I understood correctly, you leaved the spawn in the same pond with your Koi. That is not a good idea, since very few fry can survive. Usually only a tiny fraction of the fry will develop as nice Koi, even when using nice parents, so it makes sense trying to have as many survivors as possible until they reach a stage where you can tell which ones could have some potential, and get rid o the rest. Out of a spawn of around 30.000 eggs in early May 2004, I'm keeping just 20 tosai. And will certainly keep not more than 6 of them.
