koi babies Can't Post

my 9 koi (about 16") had their first babies last spring. they are in a 1000 gal pond (6x12x3deep). I had put about 200 bunches of anacharis at the bottom and it grew to the top, gave them a media to spawn on, and a place for the little ones to hide. my question is: out of about 30 babies i recovered, about 11 of them were solid grey. 2 solid black, and the others different colorerd. Will the solid grey ones change color? They are about 7 to 8 inches now.

Unsure Sorry, I'm afraid they won't improve based on my limited experience. If I understood correctly, you leaved the spawn in the same pond with your Koi. That is not a good idea, since very few fry can survive. Usually only a tiny fraction of the fry will develop as nice Koi, even when using nice parents, so it makes sense trying to have as many survivors as possible until they reach a stage where you can tell which ones could have some potential, and get rid o the rest.
Out of a spawn of around 30.000 eggs in early May 2004, I'm keeping just 20 tosai. And will certainly keep not more than 6 of them.
