Hola Javier! nice to know you are also interested in breeding Koi. That is for me one of the most exciting sides of the hobby. You can use a shallow kiddies pool for spawning. Secure a tall net wall to prevent Koi jumping out. Even a mesh cover is advisable. Artificial mopes are in my opinion much better than plants. The female will spray eggs everywhere, you can place mopes at the bottom but also near the surface and specially next to the pool sides. Last spring was my second season breeding Koi. I'm doing it because it is wonderful to watch the fry daily and see how they grow and develop, changing colors and pattern. First year the parents ate most of the eggs before I noticed. Anyway I reared some 80 and was fun and a learning experience. None of the the fry was good, although there were some nice ogons I was looking for Sanke. I gave away all of the fry during the summer. Last spring I was more successful, partly because I paired rather nice Sanke oyagoi. Also because I took time to read, learn and prepare things well in advance. Even had my first try with artificial induction of spawning. You can have a look at my web page http://es.geocities.com/estanqueskois/ It is in spanish, but I guess that ... eso no sera problema para ti, espero There are pictures of my first breeding. I'm afraid is not updated yet, so still no pictures of last spring breeding. I'm trying to attach a picture of last spring Tosai All the best, un cordial saludo Diego Jordano Cordoba, Spain Spanish Koi Keeper's Society (A.E.K.): http://www.elkoi.com Web pers. http://es.geocities.com/estanqueskois/ E-mail:djordano@wanadoo.es
