Wink my males are chasing the female today.I think iam going to leave her in the main pond this year .the other koi will gobble most of the eggs.the smart and strong will survive...still have baby koi from last year .some grew real fast some are still 2-4 '' .i had about 350 make it .very good first turn out i thought.I gave some away ,and kept the ones i liked .JUST wating for them to get a little bigger to put in main pond. well will post some new pics of pond soon .

Sounds like fun times againCool. We kept some of ours from last year too, gave tons away via adoption, lost a few to birds/snakesMad All of the ones we kept are in the main pond except 4 that are in an indoor tank just for observation. Sizes range from 4" (a really nice looking shiro utsuriSmile) up to 7" (yamabuki, ochiba, sanke) We had several larger that got nabbed by a hawk along with a few of our adult koiMadMadMad

HI LARZ1 , I LOOKED TODAY IN THE POND ,EGGS ARE ALL OVER WHERE THE FISH CANT EAT THEM .SOME ARE ON THE TOP OF WATER FALL POOL .MAYBE THEY WILL STAY UP THERE UNTIL THEY GET BIG ENOUGH....... WHAT SIZE WOULD YOU CONSIDER SAFE TO PUT THE SMALLER KOI IN WITH THE BIGGER KOI? ALL MY OTHER KOI GREW UP TOGETHER. KOI ON MY 4TH YEAR .THANKS

Once they are big enough for you to begin culling the ones with birth defects they will do OK in the main pond, especially if you have hiding places for them.
