need tips for raising frys Can't Post

hello, everyone
I was hoping if some people would be so kind to give me tips on how to raise koi fries.
Because lately I've recently had a few hundred fries and I'm not really sure on how to raise them.
My fries right now are about 1inch - 1&1/2inch, smallest maybe half an inch.
I've read the other posts about how to feed them and everything but I'm still losing a few fries every few days (some of them seem to have a greenish belly when they die is that natural?).
I'm recently keeping about 50 or more fries indoors in a fish tank so i can keep an eye on them and I'm feeding them goldfish flakes (which can't be good for them huh?).
I have about 20-30 of them out in the pond in back along with my older kois and they seem to be getting along well, but I'm not sure if my big one are eating my little fries without me knowing should get them outta there?
Also I'm trying to clean out my 2nd outdoor pond quickly (because it's water quality is super poor right now) so i can move the rest of my fries into it.

The greenish belly sounds like either:

*They've been eating alot of algae; or
*Fungus on their body that has gone green with algae externally.

Do you have any precycled filtration media running with your fry tanks?

If you haven't you should look into using some existing media or even an existing external canister filter with a sponge filter connected on the inlet. Otherwise, you should consider a large number of sponge filters, powered from an air pump.

Basically, what you want to use is a precycled filter of any kind, along with a water pump that you've modified with fine material to prevent fry being sucked in.

In the meantime, if no salt has been added inside your tanks/pond you should consider Zeolite. Zeolite acts like activated carbon and absorbs ammonia.

Feeding
Try placing plenty of elodea and anacharis in the pond as an additional source of food for the koi.

Use a hand blender and blend goldfish food and pellets into dust to make it easier for the fry to eat.

Well, my fries have been eating algae
I don't it's fungus though shouldn't be.( I hope not)
because the geen doesn't seem to be external but internal

I have a good sponge filter running for the tank inside I'm not too worried about the fries being sucked into it
it's low powered enough to prevent that and i will try to get some Zeolite or some salt like you said.

As for the outside i have a pump hooked up to some sort of filter tank I'm not sure on how to discribe it but it's pretty crappy. But it's good for now because I'm letting the water green up alittle for the fries to eat.(Also i have a fountain outside and a few plants)But this weekend I'm getting a good filter installed outside equipped with UV and all that good stuff.

I'll start mashing up some goldfish food from now on for the ones indoor

Thanks for replying koiguyoz

i will try to get some Zeolite or some salt like you said.

NOTE
Zeolite will release ammonia into the pond water if the pond water has been salted previously.

Some people use salt to reduce the effects of nitrite, but please don't use salt in the pond water if you intend to use zeolite in the pond filter system.

    koiguyoz,

Thanks for the heads up on zeolite and salt
I'll keep that in mind .
But which would you recommend using?
(I've never used salt or zeolite)

Personally, I wouldn't recommend either.

I do recommend keeping several precycled sponge filters cycled months in advance in a pond for use with the fries.

But seeing that you have fries right now, I'd recommend zeolite.
