Hello Martin As this was an unplanned spawning I wouldnt worry about it to much. U have already moved the fry into another container with the plants. Add a fine bubbler bar to one end of the tank and see what happens. If the eggs are viable then they should hatch out within four to five days. They will then feed off of their yolk sacs for another day or two after the third day they will start swimming up to the top for their first gulp of air. Once they have filled their air bladder they will be able to swimm about freely. At this point u can start introducing very very small portions of finely ground up flakes. They will nibble quite alot of food off of the algae on the plant stems as well. There are other methods of feeding the fry like egg yolks and liquid fry foods but in your situation I would not reccomend those as they will foul the water very rapidly. Usaully for a planned spawning one will already have several cultures of brine shrimp in different stages of hatching to feed the fry. I just recently threw fifty eggs in a 150 gallon tank with one huge lily pad and an air bubbler. After thirty days or so I remembered about them. I expected to find a real mess but on inspection I found all them healthy and kicking. I can only assume that they were feeding off of the algae on the massive lily pads stems. Think that we all over due it when it comes to feeding these young fry. They are tough little guys and were there are plants there is always a way. I have to run..Wifes B day and all that. Will check back on u later. Good Luck, Kiefer KIEFER
