Hi, I'm no expert, but I recently had a spawn in my pond too. If it's in a clump then it's frog eggs, if not, then it's koi, or goldfish. It could be unfertilized eggs, but doubtful, if they are golden color. Koi I believe need to be over 24 inches to breed, and goldfish 8 inches and over, and yes there are accidental spawnings of goi, or hybreeds, however no way to tell right now until they hatch. I woud take out the eggs, or the ones you can get to, and set up a seperate pond like I did. I didn't know until they were fish, and only saved 10, but you are lucky to see them as eggs, before they get eaten by all the other fish. I set up a 8 foot round kiddie pool that's a little over 2 feet deep, and I luckily had it set up with the top layer of water covered in water hyacenth, and set up some air stones around the edges. I would do it soon before you have like thousands of little babie fish to polute your pond. I may be wrong in this, but I do know they are probably not just unfertilized, and you do need to get them out of your pond. Good luck, as I am sure you will be a proud parent just as I have been. -pondgirl

Wink Your welcome, but do remember I am no expert, but that's a cheep way I know how to do it, and it's worked for me just fine. I've heard with eggs, when they hatch, you need to do water changes every few days, just not sure how many water changes, or how much. Also, make sure you declorinate the water, even thought it's only the eggs. Good luck, babies are fun, fun, fun. Oh, and as for determining koi, golfish, or goi, or hybreed, I guess goldfish babies are born grey or silver, and koi are any color, but the grey fry also can be a rare koi, and barbels are really really hard to see until at least a few weeks. Have fun, pondgirl.Smile

Sorry don't know on that one, at least a week I'd guess. I guess the eggs are covered in a "milt" that produces crap on top of the water, so you need to take them out asap I guess. Good luck, pondgirl

Not all kois breed at the size of 24 inches or bigger, mines breed at 8 inches only.I have heard some at 6 inch too but maybe the kois were old but small.
