raising fry Can't Post

hi all,i wondered if anyone could give me some advice regarding raising koi fry.my brother bought 50 fry about a month ago, when he purchased them they were varying size but most about 1/2 and inch in length.
Firstly we put them in a 1mx1mx1/2m plastic pond with an airstone and some parrot feather,we did lose a few (as we expected).suddenly our great british summer then decided to vanish and we had great downpours of rain,as the pond was uncovered and we was worried about rain overflowing it we bought the fry in,and rehoused them in a 3ft long aquarium.the plan is also to overwinter them in here.
we set the tank up using water from our large pond, with a small aquarium pump with built in filter and some parrot feather in there.
that was about two weeks ago,we now only have about 15 fry left, although they are growing the larger ones being just over an inch.
on the advice of the guy we got them from ,we'd been feeding them crushed up pelletsBlush but since reading on here realise that we shouldnt be doing this.so have gone out and got some bloodworm and daphnia for them.
we changed half the water at the weekend but still had a fw die over the past couple of days, ive tested the water today and got a ph value of 7.2.we changed the water with water from our pond whose's ph value is 7.6.(im afraid we've only got basic water testing kits)

has anyone got any advice ,its a shame to see these poor little cuties die,as i said we expected to lose some of them but not all of them ,any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's always inportant to get as big a space as possible hope the basic link will help you. you could make a tempary pond with blocks and builders liner for damp proofing very cheep, or you could get a kiddys padling pool from argos nice and cheep this time of year and the smallish one i got is 3000 Litres and its only 12 circle if you have room of course.

Best to get test kits try NTlabs they do ammonia nitrites nitrates GH KH and PH all in one package i put them in order of importance.

You can use the temp ponds / paddling pool to bread daphnia, when you don't have babys.

lots to learn get as many books out of your local libary as you can and read them all not just koi but anything you can find on fresh water fish. From buying to breading them to burying them (Hopefuly you won't have to bury many after you read the rest)

good luck zoul
