Just going off from my goldfish spawning experience, if you have a few more males, then the eggs are more likely to be fertilised then if there is one male.

However, I have seen a single male and female coupling at a farm, so you'll be able to determine the outcome of the spawning in terms of the variety of koi you'll receive.

hi, that was my reason for one male, but did not no if just one male would work, i read you need 2 males with 1 female, last time i had 2 males and 1female and that worked fine but one of the males i dont think fertilized any eggs, at least none of the fry looked like him. i have him in with my female now and still wonder if he is to young. he is around 3 years old, not even sure my female will lay this time, she dont look overly fat, well time will tell. thanks for the reply. anybody else got any ideas on this subject???
