will they ever get color? Can't Post

in my pond I have 4 gold goldfish and 2 koi which now they had babies and only a few of them have color. they are feeder goldfish size. I was just wondering if they will ever change color or are they going to stay black?

Chances are they are koi goldfish cross and no they will not develop much color, if you do not see barels then they may just be black goldfish, I would get rid of the fry unless you just like them as they will take up space in your pond and not be pretty fish.

HI Jon and oh yes they do, you just have to look at them through a maginifying glass. I put my small koi in a drinking glass, that was the only way I could see the barles they are so tiny really you would not know they are thereSly

they are the whiskers that koi have, kinda like a catfish, but dont sting you. and not as long.

dont worry your fry can very much still be koi fry. it takes a couple of months for koi fry to develop color.
and when they do start to develop color, they do it quick. each day a fry can go from brown or black to gold.

its fun.

Hi Lauren,

Barbels are like thorns on either side of a koi mouth but soft. Have a look. For some reason it was typed as BARELS

Remember, Jon ain't from around here. We could screw up the entire world if we start introducing them to southern colloquialisms. We don't have gators in Oklahoma either, but we do have alligator garShocked. (and we never win spellin' beez eeether)
