IMHO, EAsy is not as good mechanical filter as an Answer...but definitely less expensive. The Nexus w/Answer prevents all solids over 200 microns from entering the biological stage. Nexus 3000, 3430 gph max flow, for ponds up to 8900 gallons.
How Easy works:
The EAZY is a stainless steel vessel containing a volume of static K1 media which is located within the centre chamber of the NeXus. Water enters the centre chamber and then enters the Eazy via slots in the lower half of the unit. This results in a downward flow causing many of the larger solids to settle out prior to entering the Eazy. the size of the slots will not allow large mechanical waste to enter the cylinder this acting as a first stage mechanical filtration.
The water then passes through the static K1 media utilizing up and side flow and this process causes the fine solids to become entrapped.
The mechanically clean water then passes to the outside chamber of the Nexus where the Kaldnes moving bed is located for biological treatment prior to being returned to the pond.
How the Answer works:
All water that passes through ‘The Answer’ is finely filtered. The pump that provides the power and cleaning action draws filtered water from inside of 'The Answer’; it is then pumped into a hollow rotor arm. At each end of the arm are nozzles angled at 45 degrees. Water is pumped through these nozzles and in doing so causes the arm to rotate. Water is forced out at high pressure against the inside of the screen continuously. This causes water to backwash through the screen to the outside. The result is that particles lodged on the outside, which are naturally trying to get through, are forced away and eventually settle at the bottom of the container. Once here, there is no way back and they can be sumped to waste. Therefore, 'The Answer' will run continuously without blocking, protecting the bio-stage and giving excellent clarity.
The onlt reson I would not buy the Easy is that it needs to becleaned about every three days.
With the Answer I can take a Vacation for a week or so and not worry about it getting plugged up.
