Hi Jon,

excellent instructions! Have you considered putting this information into the Help section or has this been done already? Nothing speaks better than visuals.

cheers..

Andymadd that is a nice pondSmile The water lilies are they in pots with dirt and gravel or are they just in a pot with gravel, they are really nice and big. I was thinking about a early post and you said you planted in gravel and if that is what you done they look great.

Yup. just stones large enough so the koi don't dig them out upto about 2" and let the plants go.......that pic does not do justice to the flowers it was early evening and they had closed up the blooms are about 4" across when open.

Re: [andymadd] 2 years on [In reply to] Can't Post

I guess the pic gave it away for me as my lilies are doing the same as yours, we have red clay around here and I am told they like red clay. My blooms are also that big. I will try and get a good pic in the morning while they are in bloom so you can take a look at them. I have one that has lost the soil and it is not doing well at all but I am going to put it in gravel and see if it will do the same as yours, one thing for sure is it will be easy to seperate like that and the pot wont lose dirt. I hope this works for me also and I will let you know how it does.

Hi GC,

I'll try. I beleive the limit size is small(30k) I'll have to reduce. See what happens.

Im jealous of your koi's. they are so well behaved that they leave your lotus alone. I tried putting lotus in my pond (same amount as yours) and it only lasted for 2 days. my koi's are just shameless.

Re: [mikoi] 2 years on [In reply to] Can't Post

It is funny how koi eating habits can vary so much from one pond to the nextCrazy. I have 9 adult koi 8-17" long, about 25-30 fry 3-6" long, and 1 fantail goldfish living in my pond with 3 water lilies. They munch on a few of the leaves now and then, but for the most part they leave them aloneSmile. It may be because I have so many other plants they enjoy nibbling on as well. (They love potato vine for a tasty treat)
