300 Gal Indoor Can't Post

Photos of my 300 gal pond in enclosed patio. Have 5 Koi getting pretty big, so in the process of building a 3500 gal. above ground pond (live in Louisiana USA, water table is a 1' below ground sometimes). Building my own biofilter out of a 150 gal stock tank with springflo or buffer pads (not rocks). Using a sequence 4400 pro pump. Will build my own skimmer. Don't believe in UV, so I'll see what hapens.
Will have a cinder block wall built into 2 truck loads of dirt.
Any suggestions on above ground ponds?
Thanks,
Pond ScottCool

Hi Scott,I have a raised pond/above ground. It is only 2000 gallons. At the time it seemed like a good idea, and to a degree it still is.It is only 3 foot deep,so it is handy for leaning on the side of pond for a close look at the koi!If I could start from scratch (rebuild it) I would not make it so high above ground and definately a minumum 6 feet deep.I would perhaps make it so it was only about 18 inches above ground the rest under ground. Articles I have read in koi magazines on hobbyist's ponds (WHO HAVE SUNKEN PONDS) a lot of them have said they wished they had made it raised so it would be easier to catch the koi. Also I think you should change your mind about the U.V. if you get one, make it a 55watt.

All the best COLINSmile
