Do koi not swim in cold winters? I live in a tropical area of Florida... It really never gets cold here, so I don't know what koi behavior is like in areas that it does get cold.

When it gets cold they sit still on the bottom of the pond all winter long. Then when it warms up well they will get active and start to eat.Wink

Really?! You would think with all the time I put into this I would know that by now. My koi just stay active all through winter. Does that mean it's okay to feed them like normal? I've always held back a little in winter, just because what I've heard. I've read not to feed them if the water temperature is below 55, but my water is certainly warmer than that. I wonder if I could start a year-round super growth schedule Cool

It all depends on you water temperature....if it warmer than 55F....you do feed....

but like us who have cold and snowy winters....they hibernate and we cease feeding until the spring months hit..Tongue
