In The Begining Can't Post

This is our pond in the begining. I removed a maple stump and my wife always wanted a pond.So I dug the rest of it out that was quit the job.We had some old carpet but we needed more so we started ripping the carpet out of the house, we found hardwood floors under the carpet so it was a win win situation. Our pond is 11' by 17' and about 4' at the deep end and 2'6" at the shallow end.

Those pictures were from last year I don't have really any good pictures of this year because we are under construction again. We are using a large sump pump I don't remember the size but if they ever have to pump out the great lakes i'm going to lend it to them.Since the pump is so big we put a T on the hose and so half the water goes to a old hand pump for decoration and circulation. Now the other half goes to a Laguna 4000 filter. We also have a large air pump that goes to a 7" air stone, the first time I let that sucker go one of our fish were swimming over top and the air lifted him right out of the water and he was 18" at the time. The air stone kept the pond from freezing last year though.

The slope is there because a few reasons. First was we did'nt want the sides to break down so we mixed sand and cement not to make concrete but to make it firm on the sides. Now that also gave us more depth in which we looking for. And it brings us to this years project and thats to lift that whole area with fill and then fabric paper, sand, and then flagstone. My wife says if I get it done I can sleep again in the big bed, so I better get back at it.

HiLJ,

"My wife says if I get it done I can sleep again in the big bed, so I better get back at it"

A lot of pond owners raise the wall if they've done their pond not deep enough which for me is the best and easier way to increase your pond unless we are prepared to redo the whole lot, like myselfUnsureTongue Good luck and keep us posted

Just make sure you got the bed by yourselfTongue

Jon
