Is my pond size enaught? Can't Post

Hi all...., My pond in front yard has size 2 m (L), 2,5 m (W) and 1,2 m (D). Is this size enaugh to keep 20 kois on 15 cm (10 kois), 20 cm (6 kois), and 40 cm (4 kois)? Is my pond size enaught to make my kois grow better? If not enaught, what can I do? Should I change this size in a bigger or deeper pond? Hope your help please.
Regards,
Ajeng Arini

i like the depth of 1-2 meters, that helps the koi with the shape of its body

More importantly, is your filtration good? and how are your water quality parameters?

Thank a lot, my friends. Finally, there are friends advised me about my pond. Koiguyoz..., I have five chamber of filter. I took in three chambers 2.000 bioballs and a lot of zeolite. I used 11 watt UV light and submersible pump that could pumped 2500 ltr water in an hour. I have not test my water yet. So I haven't know the water paremeter yet. But, I think the water parameter was good, coz I look the water was very clear (next time I'll send pics of my pond to this forum) and all fishes were enjoy in my pond. But, if the water parameters be used, I'll test as soon as posible. Thank you.

Ajeng

If you're interested in the water quality tests these are it:
*Nitrite test kit
*Ammonia test kit
*Nitrate test kit
*PH test kit

The instructions should be on the package.

You should aim for a reading of 0 or pretty close on nitrite and ammonia, and +7.0 or so on PH.

The water is likely to be clear from the UV light use, however it might be masking true water quality, since good biological filtration should be able to keep the water clear without the use of a UV light.

I'm sure you've been informed of recharging the zeolite when it expires? Its a chemical filter that absorbs ammonia, but is not a form of biological filtration that allows good bacteria to colonise normally.

Hi Ajeng,

In my opinion your pump is under size. Your pond volume is 6000L plus filters. If your pump can do 2500L your water turn over rate is 3 times per hour or more after water passes through bends and heights. You should consider the head lost, pipe bends or elbows when buying pumpsSmile Again, these are opinions only and from my experience.Wink

rgds,
Jon

You right, Jon. May be my pump is under size. But, if it's under size, why my water very very clear. Or, it's coz of UV light? Ok..., I'll try to change my pump with the bigger size one. Thank you.
Best regards,
Ajeng.
