My DIY Pond : Current Progress Can't Post

A water return feature has been added via flower stone. For natural look tiles of sand stones had been applied on the wall. The black coat on pond floor is fibreglass. The fibreglass being applied as top coat to prevent water leakage as this material is durable, smooth and easy to fix if needed. The smoothness of FG can move debris on pond floor toward floor trap easily compare to bare cement flooring.

Top view of my pond before fibreglass being applied. The black coat is bitumenous emulsion or Flinkote No 3 from Shell to act as damp proof membrane to stop vapour from earth entering the pond. This measure has to be taken due to the location of this pond close to sanitary pipeline.

Re: [scinomore] My DIY Pond : Current Progress [In reply to] Can't Post

Water had been filled last weekend and 10kg salt poured into the pond as disinfectant. There was no leakage found. The job were carried out by 3 of my loyal assistant with a reward... the permission to swim.

Since the pond floor has been surfaced with FG, alkalinity should be no problem, i guess. Therefore no need to put vinegar or anything acidic into the pond.

It will be great if sifus here can help me with ideas how to prepare the pond water for safe fish keeping at the first time. Till now the water pump is keep running for 3 days and no fish added yet. There is no filter media added except 1 chamber filled with bio ring and corals for pH balance.

Pls visit my blog at http://scinomore.blogspot.com for more info.

My DIY 5 Minutes Venturi [In reply to] Can't Post

Material needed: 1/4" air tube (green one), 3/4" PVC pipe and 3/4" socket.
Make 1/4" hole on PVC pipe
Cut 45d angle at the end of air tube
Slot in the air tube to PVC, make sure its air tight

Test it first, you can adjust the air bubles by rotating the air tube or deepen it
If you satisfy with the bubbles, put some aquarium glue around the joint to ensure there will be no air leak
Connect the venturi to your existing pipe via socket
... and the venturi in action.
