My Pond	Can't Post

Hi,

New to the forum, I have posted a message relating to my sick Koi or I think he/she is sick in another part of this forum.

I have a web site also which I will post for you to see. The pond holds around 1000 gal of water, I have 6 Koi 2 of them are ghost Koi and 3 goldfish. I did have 10 golden Orfe but believe it or not they have vanished, we can not find them anywhere!! I find it hard to believe that we have lost ALL 10 of them!!

The pond will be 12 months old at the end of this summer 02, I am currently suffering from blanket weed and have been all through the winter. The pond is green at the moment I am trying yet another solution, nothing as yet has worked, this will be my third attempt, I have even tried barely straw, no luck at all.

Am I right in saying that if the pond surface is basically covered with pond weed which in turn stops the sunlight getting through the blanket weed should die off? Unsure

Hi Sharis, yes, blanket weed does require sunlight to flourish but it won't be easy trying to block out all the sunlight using other plants. Maybe you should try to reduce the nitrate and phosphate levels in the water to reduce it's proliferation. Btw, congratulations for being the owner of a nice pond. You deserve it after all the hard work you had put in... Smile

Really a lovely pond u have.

Concerning the weed or algae, what kind of filter do u have and how big is it??? That could be the problem.
