Gee.. don't put me in a tight spot here Stuart. I noticed the word 'spring'.... and from where I am from (Hot humid tropical Malaysia), there really aren't any seasons. Unfortunately Rob, I'm rather unfamiliar with flora from your part of the woods. BUT, I must say, ur pond looks very pretty. What I can say is, it would be quite a challenge for you to keep your water lilies in the pond with kois when they approach the 50cm plus sizes. My kois just tore thru my water lilies in 2 days when I put them in the pond. I had some giant madagascan cypruses which didn't survive very well in the pond with the koi either. I now have a separate 'lily pond' next to my main koi pond for all the lilies and marginal plants. Most of the vegetation in my pond is in waterways or urns, out of the reach of my koi. (They don't behave themselves around a salad bar u know. )
