Hi,
Nice pics!!!
Need to bother u with two questions.

1. How did you manage to plant lotus plant in the 5 feet deep pond?
Can you share if you have some bricks to raise a pot up? How big is the pot, and didn't the fishes eat up the plant?

2. How did you manage to train your fishes until they are so very tame?!!?

Cheers.

There is a 1 foot wide ledge around the pond at a depth of 3 feet.
The plant is in a 1 x 2 1/2 foot container, and yes the koi do nibble on the sprouting leaves but most manage to surface in great condition.

And as for getting them to eat out my hand, its just alot of sitting with your hand in the water and waiting Smile. They will get used to you in time. If you like your koi as much as most of the ppl in this great forum then you wouldn't mind all the waiting around.

All good things come to those who wait! Cool

Hi cplng,

Here are some tips mentioned in Koiworld and Water Gardens mag. regarding how to 'Hand Feed' your koi.

1)Feed koi everyday in the same spot
2)Let them see you while they are eating so that they will associate you with the food.
3)Tease them closer to you by sprinkling food nearby while feeding.
4)Place your hand into the water while they are feeding.
5)Hold some pellets in your hand and be patient.
6)Once they know you have the food, they will begin nudging at your hand.

Goodluck and Happy Koi Keeping.
