Sly
Thanks everyone for the nice words.
I do like matallic koi,but I like outhers as well.
The pond is filtered with a filter I made, and has a trickel tower as well and a skimmer,no bottom drain.
I will post some pic when I find them,If interested.
The pond is 4ft.deep and has natural stone,I did all the work myself 3yrs.ago.
Thanks once more and Im looking forward to learning from all of you here, and enjoying this wonderfull hobby together.

Hi,

We would love to see the pictures of your filter and maybe some more of your koi if possible. It sounds like you have a gift for making filters looking at your water clarity. You did all the work yourself ?. Saying that am I right in saying that you are not from Malaysia or Singapore. U.K or U.S by any chance ?.

SmileI would be glad to post pics of my very simple filter and TT.
Here is some pic of them, way to small for a 8000gal pond but lots of good bugs and low stocking rates is working out for nowWink

Wow! You must be the first koi-keeper on record to have successfully maintained a crystal clear pond with healthy kois with such a small filter and TT!!CoolSmile I am truly amazed!

Your filter is just a simple bucket with some sponge? And your TT is only a small bucket? Cool

And here I am, trying to build a 6' TT and using expensive Jap mats etc. etc. for my filter! What's is your secret?

How many kois do you stock in the pond right now? Sorry for the flurry of questions, I am still shocked!

Johnson

SlyHi this really is my filter and TT.Way to small belive me I have to clean it often,3 times a week
Unsure
This is no way the right way to do a filter because maintaing takes alot of work.
The filter is a upflo 75gal.tank the white one.Is filled with filter material on a pvc rack + 2 rows of filter brushes before the filter rack.
Then goes to 50 gal. barrel TT bio chamber has been filled with lava rock.
I only have 11 koi in there, that is why I think I can have good water for now,but if I add more fish or as they grow bigger I will do the filter the right way.
Its true, so close mouth becouse bugs donot taste good!

Roger

I forgot to say I have UV also.
Im from the USA I forgot to mention also .

Hi Roger

You are right, sooner or later you will have to upgrade your filter as the kois mature and if you add more fishes in there.

How long have you been keeping kois using this filter? Just curious!

Care to send some pics of your kois?

Re: [johnson lee] My pond [In reply to] Can't Post

DttkMad
Yes those pix came out small and I dont know why.I have to find the original disk and can post more pix of kio,or send them to you also .
Let me know Mr lee ok.
I been useing this for 2 yrs now,the water quility goes up and down as far as clairity, the pixs were taken when it Is at its best.
The pond is 4 yrs old and have never lost a koi though.
So dont make a under size filter do it the right way the first time I learned then the filter does not have to be cleaned so often and stays clear all the time.
