Our pond :) Can't Post

It's been a tough road...mostly do to water issues. One night..I woke up at 2:00 am...sick to my stomache...feeling like I had to hurl...And just then...I could hear the pond pump sucking air! I ran outside...and there were the Koi all in a inch or two of water...laying mostly still :( The hose from the pump had been knocked off at night and ...yep...dry pond. It takes a couple hours to empty the pond...and the fish only live for a few minutes out of the water.... So the timing of me waking up was miraculous :) Needless to say I use tight hose clamps all around now.

So..here it is..our pond...about 2,000 gallons and about 19 fish...12 of them Koi of various sizes...6 only fry really.

Oh...yes...they all survived that night :)

I really like your pondCool. Naturalistic is my favorite way to go too. Also happy to hear they all made it. I'll bet you didn't sleep the rest of the nightFrown. Where I come from that wakeup call is called "divine providence".Angelic

That has happened to me twice. Once it was when one of my fish jumped out of the pond and another was when i finished someting up here on the comp and went down stairs to find all my fish in a half inch of water, i was changing water and got distracted. All survived. The one that jumped out did not Pirate, but it lead to more koi and a bigger pond.

Anyways very nice pon koi4joy

Hi Koi4joy,

We are glad that your koi survived the nightAngelic

I'm using a float switch with piggy back plug where my pumps and UV are plugged in. This will prevent draining your pond if something goes wrong with your plumbing or the pond walls itself. Once the float switch dropped it will switch off everything apart from my blowerWink

Mine is exactly this one http://www.rockaroundtheblock.com.au/categories.asp?cID=38

BTW, a very lovely pond you haveCool

rgds,
Jon
