Well IM NEW BUT LOOK! PLEASE POST SOMETHING!!! Can't Post
Well heres 2 picutures of my 800 gallon pond !

But for some reason I have a UV Light but the water still not clear ! and I put in some alge kill stuff !

WHAT I`M DOING WRONG?????Unimpressed

Get you a coulple of barley bails and put in you waterfall and clean the pond out and put fresh water in the pond. You can also put some batting like you have in pillows in your filter to help catch the fine algie, this should do the trick for you.

Good luck, Just put clean water in and clean out the filter and put the batting in the filter, see how this works for you.

1. What is the wattage of your UV, and how old is it???
2. What kind of filtration do you use???
3. How old is the pond???

   Well its 9 watts , the blub will replace last spring !

It has a bio filters! and its 6 years old !

I would suggest replacing the UV to 30watts at leastSmile

If your pond is expose to full sun try to provide some sort of shade.Cool

What is the filter capacity and what size is your pump???

Well its a beckett Large pond pump that goes 535 gph but its ideal for for ponds up to 1200 gallons !

But on the filter im not very sure!

You can try these first if you want. First increase your UV to 30watts. Your pump could be too strong for your filter, you could add a settlement filter to trap all solid waste before it goes to your biofilter then back to your pond.

BTW, do you pump water to your filter or is it gravity feed???

Increase your UV to 30watts first. I insist on this. Check out this thread from green to clear by replacing UV.

I would still suggest to increase your filter to at least 25% of pond volume.Smile

hello,

just wondering, do you have your pump running 24 hours a day because this is very important. i used to switch off mine at night and i was faced with similar problems.

Hey buddy,

If you clean it you'll be starting same problem. The way to fix it is to find the source not creating same problemSmile When
it comes to koi keeping you will need a lot of patienceWink and it will pay off, I promise you that.

You passed up a lot of good advice to get where you are today. Your pictures today will show nice clean waterLaugh, but if you blow off the advice you were given about good filtration, U.V. upgrade to 30 watts, barley balls, etc. it will turn green again as soon as heat and sunshine start the whole problem again.Unsure

It will take just as long for your pond to recover from a good cleaning as it would have from green water.Frown Now the biofilter is dead and it will take many weeks for the bacteria to re-establish itself and begin cleansing the water naturally. You will need to keep an eye on the filter mats in the meantime as they will clog up quickly until the biofilter is back in balance. Whatever you do, DON'T CLEAN OUT THE BIOMEDIA with fresh water.Shocked

Learn patience and you will have more fun and less stress. That is part of the point in keeping koi!Wink
