my DIY pond looking great now Can't Post

My pond was completed close to half a year ago and now it's looking great with healthy coating of algea, fully matured and easy to maintain filtration system, even the plants garden in the garden grew to compliment the pond nicely.

Go take a look, at http://kyspeaks.com and the koi pond category is at http://kyspeaks.com/category/koi-pond/ which i documented the whole building process that took us some 3 months, DIY.

Comments are welcomed. :D

Hi

i think it's better to put the pipe from your filter system away from the pump. This may avoid the same water being processed over and over again. It will affect the efficiency of your filtration. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: [menghun] my DIY pond looking great now [In reply to] Can't Post

haven't checked it in a while as the fish seems happy, the last i checked was a few months ago:
  • pH - around 7.8
  • Ammonia - less than 5 mg/l
  • Nitrite - less than 0.3 mg/l
  • Nitrate - around 5 to 7 mg/l
and I wrote about it here -> http://kyspeaks.com/2005/09/12/koi-pond-reading-the-water-parameter/

Well actually it would be the same as other type of pond, but you do have to lower the pH level by means of neutralizing the alkaline from the cement with acid or papaya skin etc before putting in the fishes. Other measures are standard
