not too sure on the size but im guessing about 2,000 gals. Instead of digging in the fine Washington soil (lots of rocks) i decided to build an above ground one. had a dump truck deliver sifted 4in1 soil, built a round berm then layed my liner in it. shaped it and added a few rocks and plants. Using well water so there was no worries about chlorine. used a bottle of bio kick starter, lots of plants and introduce a few river rocks, figured a quick way of getting some benificial bacteria, closely inpected the river rocks for critters and bugs. after about a week I went down to the local petshop and purchased some feeder fish. after a few weeks and no dead feeders i went out and bought a few koi and been feeding my addiction ever since. Already entertaining the idea of building an even bigger one in the back yard this winter so it'll be ready for the spring. using activated charcoal in the wiskey barrel separated by a thin sheet of plexiglass and some poly. Was able to get 10 lbs of it on Ebay for only 20 dollars. Slowly getting rid of my green water and everything in the pond is thriving, both plants and fish. getting more koi tommorrow the local pet store is getting a fresh shippment in tommorrow morning.
