I skim them off myself with the net. I really don't get that many leaves in the pond, infact that was a lot that night due to windy conditions and I get most of them up. Next spring I'm hoping to put a skimmer in on the lower edge. This pond is two years old now. I just started buying fish last summer. They wintered well except I had the anchor worms to deal with which I suspect is due to pond conditions. I have removed some things. I'm hoping to be more prepared this next year. I've been doing koi for a total of 6 years now and I'm learning all the time. The forum has been a bundle of help to me. Last year I had a net over the pond due to heron problems. I did not have that problem this year due to other pest controls. The net also helped to control the leaves. It's a process that I'm doing very much on my own. I built this pond mostly myself! We had four inches of snow last night, ugh.... I'm not ready to winter my fish emotionally. but....... thanks, cuda (judy) Once I tried too hard to control things in the pond....the frogs left.
