Richard, you have a nice website Smile. The pictures of your family, koi(s) and pond construction are fantastic. I noticed you have a good eye for fine koi. Great job and thanks for sharing. Smile
Always friendly :)

Very nice! I am no koi Judge. To me this koi has the wow factor with a balanced pattern, very thick Hi, Good sahsi and lovely maruzome kiwa. The Shiroji is good but cud be thicker. The weakness is the Hi on the eye and the narrow tail (from this pic at least) Good Luck

Re: [koi@kit] Best Kohaku for Jan/Feb, 06 Size larger than 60cm [In reply to] Can't Post

Koi kit, Now this may well explain the growth. According to a Japaneses breeder, his top show kois are fed almost exclusively on paste food. His recepie is like a supermarket shopping list. He explains that paste food is higly disgestible and vitamins are not destroyed; so conversion ratio is much higher than pellet food. Pelletisation is done at high temperatures and this destroys the vitamins. It is also this reason that many feed producers coat the pellets with vitamins. However, the vitamins quickly dissolve in water if the pellets are not eaten quickly.

I also assume that you have a large/long pond? No wonder you are one of Vincent's favourite customers. Crazy

Hi HWONG..

yes u r rite about the paste food. as for my pond.. hmmm.. u r wrong,.. my pond is 16ft x 8ft x 6ft deep only.. total of 20ton water.. my filter system follows the izeki system, all with 9 sheet of izeki net.. recently make myself a TT with bioballs n BH..
clean my bottom drain everyday (advice from DTBH when i visited him last jan), both filter BD n main pond BD.. total of 10% water change per day..

i m not vincent's favourite customer lah.. i like his koi, he like my $$ mah hahahhahahahhahahhaWink he also teach me a lot abt taking care of koi.. i got a lot of cifu ie.. koimann, paul, vincent, koi38, mohan n the list goes on..

cheers..

Both are beautiful with excellent bodies and the Beni quality of Benihanako is SOOOOOOOOO rich and deep it is hard to describe. But my eyes just can't get past the wonderful pattern on Big RoseCool. She will always rank very high among the Kohaku's I admire from afarBlush

Hi Mohan,
I think these two help to reinforce the definition of "Tategoi". Two beautiful examples of strong bodies, high quality shiroji/beni, but still improving. It makes one a bit impatient to see what they will look like at 90 cmCool
