Hi Co_jim, Sorry if I am too late here, but I'll give my 2 cents. It doesn't look like you have anything that creates a current to move debris toward the skimmer or disturb the water to increase oxygen levels, unless you have returns that I don't see. Because you have the skimmer at one end, I would recommend going with the filter/falls at the other end to create a current from the falls to the skimmer, thus enhancing the filtration and also increasing dissolved oxygen levels from the splashing action from the water fall. Also, I have found that on smaller ponds that don't use bottom drains to remove debris from the bottom, an oversized pump helps. I currently have the pondmaster hydrive 4000gph pump on a 1,000 gallon pond, and a 2,000gph pump on a 150 gallon pond. Both with waterfalls creating a strong current to sweep debris to the other end of the pond. So I think the hydrive 1,600 isn't overkill.
