AC/DC Air pump Can't Post

Hi all brothers/sisters here, any suggestion on which type of AC/DC Air pump is good ? I am thinking of buying 1 for my new pond, and in case of power failure, at lease I still have the Air Pump running ..

I have 1 on my Aro Tank but seems when power failure, the output was so low and can only last for 1-2 hours, Koi Pond is much bigger (15000 L) and need a better performance one, advise please.

Hi-Blow air pump is the best. Then buy a gas generator for power failures.

I think u can try to get a UPS system for computer then u hav to change the original 12v battery to N70 or 120 car battery.
(tis will last longer) I dont know wat is the actual current supply for the ups, but i think this can last 4+-hrs for a 40w air pump depends on the battery size.
I m not sure how this stuff work, try to ask electric shop 1st. or some computer technician shld know how tis ups work.
I live in sabah and the usual problem at my place is black out. 2day ago black out 3 times a day, 2-3hrs a time. Frown
Tat y lot ppl here hav gen set or this kind of ups system for the lights and fans when black out at night.
Some technician here to install and modify a ups system for house shld cost rm1k+.
Hope tis will halp....Wink

Re: [chriswu3311] AC/DC Air pump [In reply to] Can't Post

instead of getting those expensive set, i decided to buy an AC/DC pump, Brand : OTTO from XiangLeng Shah Alam, cost me RM170

I have fully charged the air pump and tested both its HIGH and Low Setting.

when Set to High, it can last me for about 6 hours and when set to LOW, it last me for 10 hours, the advantage of this air pump is it has a connector for us to connect to car battery, according to its manual which can last for 14 days (i haven't try on this).

As this AC/DC pump is for normal aquarium, as I follow the sales person's advise which i only have my air stone at 3.5ft level, 1 to my main pond and 1 to my bacteria house chamber, instead of putting in at the bottom of my pond which is 4.5ft

So far so good and RM170 is cheap compare to I buy that UPS Wink

What is the capacity of the pump ??? That is a good deal but my experience with China made airpump, they don't last when operating in a 24 hours continuous mode. Doesn't matter if it is an AC/DC or just plain AC, the quality of the pump left a lot to be desired. Hence, I have always reverted back to HiBlow or Nitto from Japan. Those pump, when operating continuously for 24 hours last a few years...

Hopefully, yours will be the exceptional and if that's the case, I don't mind getting a few of these and running them as spares...

Hi chanys,
I see you have a 15 tons pond. How many koi do you have and what kind of temperature you have at your area?

Hi chanys,
Your pond is quiet big. Do you think the air pump will bring enough volume of oxygen to the pond? Have you tried to run it in the pond for 6-10 hours and see how the koi respond? IMHO, you may have to get a few extra one to balance the amount of intake of oxygen for the koi, if you want to keep them stay active. There is no right and wrong answer until you try it. Shocked
