Does this dimension, 12'(long) x 5'(width) x 6'(depth) sound alright to you? Can't Post

Dear Koi Lover:

How are you? Is me again, David. Does this dimension, 12'(long) x 5'(width) x 6'(depth) sound abnormal to you?

Someone said the pond is too deep for such small surface area. The pond is in bad dimension ratio.

But, an experienced koi breeder from Perth did say the ratio does nothing to the koi. The koi like large volume of water quantity.

Who do you think is right? Please feel free to say your opinion.

Best regards,

David

Hi buddy,

It seem everybody agree with this dimension. HaHaHa....I feel better now, because I didn't make a stupid pond. I still unhappy about my pond, because it isn't big enough. I should chop the mango tree when I build this pond, but now is too late. I built this pond totaly in concrete and BRC. So I can't make any extension on it. Anywhere, thanks for all of you and your replies. Wish you all the best. I am David LEE, and always free to share experience with you.
Thank you

Dear cch:
How are you? May I know your full name please? I feel better to call my friend's name instead of short form. Hope you don't mind. Besides that, may I know the dimension and the filtration system of your pond.
Thank you

Your sincerely,
David LEE

Hi David,

The pond depth of 6 feet is infact good for the KOI. I think you need deep water for KOI to grow really big.in diameter, my biggest koi is able to grow

I have a koi pond of 5 feet deep and 12 feet in diamter has grown to a size of 73cm.

With your pond having one dimension of 12 feet, it should not be difficult for your KOI to climb gradually to the top for food and others. My opinion is that as long as you have one of the dimension long enough , it should be OK.

Hi David,

By the way, is your existing koi pond dimension has any adverse effect on your KOIs ?

Hello David, my name is hans

There is nothing wrong with your Depth
six ft. is just perfect for Koi
The lenght & Width is small,Koi need a
big&deep Pond to Grow big with a good shape
The best is to build the largest pond you
can,if space is not limited.
It is much less expensive to build one large pond than to rebuild a small one
