Effectiveness of Febi Turbo Cleaner, Current Owners Pls advise Can't Post

Hi, I'm living in PJ, and I'm thinking of getting a Febi Turbo Cleaner (G65). It's a bit pricey and I am wondering if it's worth every ringgit/sen? I've done some reading (Febi Foam Fractioner) and the principle does sound logical.

I've also searched the forum and found quite a few post back in the 2002-03 days however not much about it lately. Maybe this is due to the fact that Febi Turbo Cleaners are no longer in production. My question is how are pond owners nowadays cope without TC? Could it be that once the pond is 'seasoned' there is no need for a 'foam fractioner'? Also, does the G65 make a lot of 'noise' (much like a vacum cleaner)? If I were to get one unit, do I need to have a 10,000lph pump to power it or a 4,500lph one is good enough?

I've tried DIY following the instruction on this page (DIY Foam Fractioner) It produced too much 'white' foam and does not put out 'brown water'. I suspect it is to do with my DIY skills. I then went on to search the internet and IF I were to attempt another protein skimmer again, it would be this ''counter current" skimmer design. Looks promising but again, my DIY skills are very much the limiting factor here.

Below are the details of the supplier who is still selling the unit. Only G65 available @ RM1,600. It's a bit pricey, anyone know what is the normal price? I called today and they still have in stock (7th Oct 2008).

Sriramar, yes if you can post some before and after pict that would be pretty convincing for me to run out and get one :-P

Right now I am not convinced to part with RM1600. Doing a 5-10% water change every day now starting today and see how it goes. Nitrate tested, 0. No algae or green water, it's just yellowish/brownish.
