I AM BUILDING A NEW POND Can't Post

Hi All
Please excuse me as I am new to this forum and I only have little knowledge in the Koi pond industry and am looking to build a pond to which will be around 3,000 gallons ish and will be around 15 feet in diameter I plan to install two bottom drains and a surface skimmer and run these gravity fed using a 1hp swimming pool pump as I am in the swimming pool industry (not constructing them) so can get all the pipe, skimmers pumps etc at very reasonable cost, can somebody please advise me on the filtration side and where to purchase and I plan to use G4 as the sealing material (is this ok) as I have seen it at a reasonable cost on the net as glass fibre seem to be extremely expensive. I am planning to retire in about three years and move house I then plan to glass fibre the pond in the new house. I know this sounds odd but this pond is a trial run as I my next pond will be much larger and I want to learn any mistakes on this pond that I am building now. So I am looking for as much advise as I can get
Thank you all
Ray

Re: [one off] I AM BUILDING A NEW POND [In reply to] Can't Post

You need bio filtration and....it is to extensive for me to post on. I don't know where you want me to start....It's not that bad but you should look at DIY filtration threads.
Marine silocon is great for use with a liner. Pool pumps are not used because pool pump don't run all the time like pond pumps and the energy cost might run alot higher. Maybe it would work but make sure first before you get a good deal on one.
