Need Help to rebuild the existing two ponds.

Dear All,
I consider myself is a new beginner to this hobby. I have already glued to this hobby. I have discovered this website three months ago where I was searching in the World Wide Web for solving my ponds problems such as bad water quality, water filter and improvement need to be done to the existing ponds.
I have the two existing ponds built when I was renovating my house six months ago. The contractor doing the renovation claim that he is an expect in building ponds and water graden. Further to that the contractor is the friend of my mom.
Before starting, I have conveyed the pond requirements. However, due to believing the so-call "expect", I ended up regretting for havinf him to do the construction for me. Further to that the quality of the renovation was bad. I have fully settled all the payment but really frustrated. Now, I am so angry that I do not want to see his face appear in front of me anymore.
Now, I am ended up with two ponds without a proper system. The upper pond also the largest pond is 20' x 10' x 2' and the second pond is 10' x 10' x 2'. There is only one filter built next to the second pond and the size is 10' x 3' x 2'.
With this kind of setting, I can't proceed further. Can some one give me advise or help?
