Need more info for planning a new pond Can't Post

Hi all,

Newbie here and I'm very happy to come across this website with so many fish lovers. I'm building my own pond very soon. Initially I'm not considering to breed koi, but I might change my mind later. At this moment I'm very keen to built a pond with koi specs in mind because of its high level of cleanliness. Correct me if I'm wrong if this does not apply for other fish. I never breed a fish before, this is my first attempt.

I was overwhelmed by the info in this forum, I want to summarize what I understand and get more clarification to add to my planning.

My objective is to have a water feature with some fishes in my garden and at the same time to have a proper pond system.

It will be a concrete pond will be rectangular, 5' x 10' and expected to be 2' to 2.5 ' deep flush into the ground. There will be walls on 3 side of the pond.

Due to cost constraint I will not be hiring a professional pond contractor. I'll be getting some workers to work with me.

My first and main challenge right now is deciding what filter to use. I cant put my drawing on paper yet because I cant decide which one. I read about Bakki Shower, Trickle, chamber, vortex, skippy and lots of other etc etc filter, I dont which one to choose. I want to maximize the water surface, so I'm looking for something DIY, compact, can integrate seamlessly with the pond without interupting the view. Something like Jim did with the terracota urn. http://leisure.prior-it.co.uk/pond.shtml

Lets sort this one by one, hopefully the sifus can shed some lights on my first question.
