Hi Sorry for the hicup!!! posted some replies but somehow they didn't show up. Q1)I must say this forum is one of the best I've seen on the web. Thanks to MKC and Mr Khoo BG(Webmaster) for allowing us to share and care in this forum. Q2)...The size would be approx 5L x 3W x 2D (feet). If you are serious about the hobby do consider getting at least a 8ft(L) x 5ft(W) x 4ft(depth) tank. Q3). The site gets about 4 hours of direct noon to early evening sunlight (which I will reduce with potted and floating plants. For a start please have a shade over the pond. Warm water will encourage the growth of algae and especially when the filter system is not ready for used. Q4). For the contruction, am I right to assume that fiber tanks are more expensive than lining? Can anyone give an estimate for the size above? Pond liners are not popular in this region. This is because hobbyists in this region do not go for large pond. In view of this, buying a fibreglass tank or custom made one is considerable cheap. Q5). Do these tanks come in standard sizes or custom made? I read that they usually come with filter box built in? Yes they do. Custom made tank costs alittle more. If you are going for custom made tank, you can ask the vendor to incorporate a filter within the custom made tank. 6). Where in PJ or KL can I find the fiber tank and linings? Appreciate some contact numbers or address if available. Pls see Mr Khoo's down post for info. 7). Filtration - since this is not a big pond would my existing external Eheim (which is rated for the volume above) do the job? No way. As a norm, you need a filter surface area of 30% measured against the surface area of your pond. For example, if your pond area is 100 sq ft. you need a filter size area of 30 sq ft. min.(norm). Your Eheim filter will not be able to do the job. 8). Is there any filtration unit with built in UV? There is no need for a UV unit once your filter system is working properly. However if you are not convinced, you may ask your vendor to install one in the custom made tank. Good luck.
