Newbee...Need help with building a pond Can't Post

Hi there! I am really excited to build my very first koi pond and I will be needing professional help and advice. I am planning to build a 5 meters(L) X 5 Meters(W) X 1.5 Meters (Depth) outdoor pond. I already managed to finish the digging. However, I am not excatly sure how to proceed with setup the pond. Based on what I have read so far from the internet, I will be needing several equipments such as filters, drain, and etc in order to give the best possible environment for Kois. Please help me on what equipments(specs) to buy and the layout and pipepings for the pond. Hope you can also help me to have an efficient system so that I can save on the monthly cost and maintenace. Thank you in advance.

hey bro,
all i can say is make sure the waterproofing is done right....my pond is currently leaking as the contractor did not do a good job at the waterproofing....
i would suggest u to get a waterproofing compound that should be mixed with the concrete when doing the pond as well as paint the whole pond with an epoxy waterproofing compound to ensure that there is no water leak....

im suffering here with my pond... im planing on painting the pond with mirakote 340 a/b (epoxy paint)

hope it helps... good luck mate

hi, im sure this will bethe beginning of a new craze. believe me.

dimension seems ok, but if u can go deeper go for it because area can be a problem, so go a bit deeper.

the crucial thing about designing a pond is the flow of water, ie into bottom drain and out back to pond. 2 ways to look at this:

1) if ur planning a few water outlets (fountains, jets, etc) from pump back to pond, then have your bottom drain in the middle, also the bottom drain should be deepest, so a middle bottom drain should require a v-shape or connical shaped pond floor.

2) if ur outlet is from only one point of entry, then have your bottom drain the oposite end from that entry point. again, the bottom drain should be at the deepest end. but the floor doest need to be v-shape, just slanting from shallow at one end and deeper as it gets to the end.

both are to ensure shit is sucked in efficient. btw thats for a concrete pond. not familar with pond linens
