Newbie Need Advice Again Can't Post

Hello to All the Gurus out There

I am actually planning to improve on my current pond filter system. First of all I'm planning to re-arrange the Jap mats in my second chamber to follow the direction of the water flow as recommended in one of the earlier threads in this forum. My first chamber is filled with long brushes and third chamber is pump and corals.

I also plan to add aeration in the second chamber which houses the bio-filter. Fyi, the dimension of the opening of my chamber is 1.5ft long X 2ft wide X 3ft deep.

If it helps in your advice, my current pond dimension is 16ft L X7ft W X 3ft D (pond size minus filter).

I have the following questions:-

(i) In order to aerate the bio-filter, what brand of blower is considered reliable and not noisy. I've been adviced of this brand called Hi-Blower but is there a certain rated capacity that I should get ie Hi Blower 40 or 80?

(ii) How much do these blowers cost and where is a good place to get it at a reasonable price in Kuala Lumpur where I live?

(iii) Since I'll also be adding some new mats in the chamber, what should I do in order to maintain the existing good bacteria in my existing mats and also to ensure I'll grow new good bacteria in the new mats quickly without compromising on my current water parameters?

Yourfeedback/advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Its actually called Hi-Blow. Get the 80, there is always room for improvement. The more air the betterSmile

I'm not sure coz I'm not local. Here in Sydney they are about $400AUD.

Get you new media clean, cut and ready before removing your existing media. Add the new media in between old once. It shouldn't compromise your water parameters unless you have issues already. Also try to do this in low humid mild day.

Good luck.

Hi Din,

I think the pricing for the Hi-blow 40 is around RM 600-00 and the Hi-blow 80 is around RM 800-00.
You may get it from either Atarikoi Sdn. Bhd. at Taman Desa, Tel. No. 7982 4713 or
Arowana Aquarium Specialist Centre, Jalan Puchong, Tel. No. 7782 0697.

Regards,
Thiam Hwa
