Newie on Pump Flow Rate Can't Post

Not sure is this the right place to post for these questions. Need advise from everyone cause I am very confuse on this.

1) What is the different between a power head (or pump) with a output of 4,000l/h (size of output 1/2", low power consumption) compare to that of a power head (pump) with the same output but bigger output size (1", high power comsumption)
Is these the same as at zero (0) height the output is 4,000l of water after an hour? Am I right to say the only different is the distance/height of the pump capable of pumping?

2) Is there any different with the following lay out of pump in term of output? Please see attach drawings. Which one will provide a higher output of water?

Hmm lets see. I'm not so sure if I got your questions right.

1) Did u mean output size with pipe size? say a pump with same water output(4000Lph), the different power consumption is probably affecting the pressure the pump is able to exert. Thereby if it consumes more power, the pump has more pressure, and its max head flow is more(meters).

If the outlet of the pump is at water level(0 distance in height) then the outflow should be 4000Lph, but you need to consider the piping you have. The pipe diameter, length, number of elbows etc which all create friction - reduce outflow.

2) Common sense will tell me the drawing 2 would be better. Pumps are usually placed at the end of any filter chamber. What will there be in the inflow/outflow at the outside of the pond in that drawing?

Thanks for your advise Roger89,

1) What I mean,
a) pump with rating - flow 4000l/h, power 80W, output pipe size 1/2"
b) pump with rating - flow 4000l/h, power 200W, output pipe size 1"

If I'm placing a pump at 0 (zero) height, is there a different between the 2 pumps at the output in term of flow.

2) There is nothing at the outside of the pond, the aim is to creat water flow.

There shouldn't be a difference in output. You should refer height as the distance in verticle height between the water surface(not the pump level in the water) and the mouth of the outflow pipe. I think the difference between the two pumps is the max head distance(pressure).

THIS PICTURE TAKEN AT OWN "KEBUN".

How Long it can Last?

The Plastic Pond construct on 1/10/2006.Pond tested around 17 month with direct sunlight. (22/2/2008)

The Plastic Pond Still in Good Condition. No Crack Found. It Usually Can Last Up To 8-10 Year( with probable care)

Usually Fish Pond Cover Up To Prevent Direct Sunlight,( To Avoid Temperature Sudden Change, White Spot)

Means, Plastic Can Last More Than 10 Yrs or 20 Yrs.

YOU CAN REAL FISH IN PLASTIC BEG. NO MORE CONCERETE POND, SOIL POND, FIBRE TANK.

YOU ARE BIDDING RM 7.00/SQUARE METER, ONE ROLL 68M2

WHY THIS PLASTIC BEG FOR REAL FISH?

1.PROTABLE, YOU CAN MOVE TO OTHE PLACE, YOU CAN DIY.SAVE COST!!!

2.REAL FISH EVEN IN "KEBUN GETAH", LADANG KELAPA SAWIT, RUMAH KAMPUNG, IN HOUSE.(AS SIDE INCOME)

3. EASY CLEANING AFTER HARVEST. JUST FLUSH OUT ONLY,INCREASE CYCLES PER YEAR.

4.REDUCE FISH DIESEASE OCCUR , SOIL POND EASY INFECTION BY WHITE SPOT.

5.YOU EVEN CAN REAL FISH ON SANDY AREA OR AREAS WITH ACID SULFATE SOIL.

6.REDUCE WASTING FOOD.FISH STILL CAN EAT FOOD IN THE BOTTOM OF POND. REDUCE FCR . INCRESE GROWTH RATE.

7. FLOOD NO PROBLEM!!!

8.UV-STABILISED,EMBOSSED TEXTURE AND BIOSUBSISTENCE

9. LOW RISK AND LOW SETUP COST, YOU ABLE TO TRY.FAIL ALSO NEVER MIND. ONLY RM 476.00

10. CHEAPER THAN FIBRE TANK, CONCRETE POND. FUNCTION IS THE SAME!!!

11. SUITABLE FOR REAL FRY(BENIH IKAN),ABLE TO CONTROL SUDDEN TEMP CHANGE,INCREASE SURVIVAL RATE,MAY INDOR USE,PROTABLE, CLEAN, REDUCE FCR( SAVE FOOD COST)

PASS ASTM TEST. RESISTANT TO TEAR, TENSILE STRENGTH, ELONGATION, VIOLATILE LOSS, SHRINKING ,SOLVENT CONDED STRENGTH

PRICE, RM 7.00/SQUARE METER . I WILL PROVIDE TIPS/SUGGESTION ON HOW TO DO POND CONSTRUCTION.
