O.3% salt? Can't Post

HI Everyone,,

I am quite confuse about the caculation for my pond when i want to add 0.3% of salt into the water. And is adding 0.3% of salt applies to when the koi is sick, if so,what is the normal dosage of salt

My pond contains 1000 litres of water, how much salt must i add to attain 0.3% salt content. Also how heavy (in kg) is 1000 litres of water?Pls advise.

1 m3 = 1000 litres.

1 m3 = 1000 kg = 1 ton

To achieve .3% of salinity, you need 3kg of salt. [ 1000 x .003 ] = 3 kg.

Read this thread for more information on the use of salt http://www.koi.com.my/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000002.html

While 0.3% is for treatment, Mark Richman recommends in the above thread that the pond is preferably to have a salinity of 0.1% all year round.
